Subj: Growing up in Warner Robins
From: tina_nishimoto@yahoo.com (Tina Nishimoto)

My family and I moved to Warner Robins, Ga. in the summer of 1959. I started third grade that fall. C.B. Watson Elementary School was within walking distance from our new home. The walk was a little farther than I would have liked, nevertheless, my sisters and I walked to school every morning. I was anxious to get to school because I really liked the Principle. We would meet in the auditorium before class and sing "Do your ears hang low, can you tie them to and fro". Although I never understood the meaning behind the words, I enjoyed being there so I could sing. I didn't make very good grades, but I did get an award every year for perfect attendance. Oh yeah, I learned how to read and spell.

Both of my parents passed away the summer of 1992. Things have never been the same since. What was once our roots, a place called home, is just a distant memory of days gone by. I never thought in my wildest dreams I would ever reflect on my childhood past just like our parents did when we were little. Warner Robins is no longer my home, even though my mother is burried there. Warner Robins has become the ghost that haunts my mind. Like any small town, it has become like a stranger to me. I'm like a gypsy with no place to call home. I moved away after high school in 1970, aching to be back to safer grounds. Life can be cruel. There is no safe place to hide. Like a lost soul, I long for my childhood past, where innocence still exist.

Now, even the innocence of my hometown has been robbed by murderers, thiefs, child molesters, drugs, gangs, law enforcement and politicians, etc. The very people that we thought we could trust. You know who I'm talking about!

You can trust no one. Not even the people that are suppose to enforce the law. Tell me, how corrupt has Warner Robins become?
